“Thanks for that, you’ve saved my bacon there.” said Bill as we finished arranging the inventions. Just then the door opened and Earnest Robinson, the Museum Deputy Director appeared.

“Ah Cooper, you’ve done it have you… oh, no no! You imbecile! I’ve been through this with you a thousand times! The telescope was invented in 1608, then the mercury thermometer, the sewing machine, the telephone and then the ball point pen in 1888!”

“Sorry, we thought…” Bill began.

“Oh, we? So you’ve played a part in this absolute catastrophe have you?” snapped Robinson, turning on me.

“Great help you were! You’re supposed to be a detective!” growled Bill “I shan’t be lending me torch now, I won’t.”

“Sorry” I mumbled and shuffled back out into the corridor without the torch.
